The municipality of Oeiras has various points of cultural interest and pleasant locations for sports and leisure. In addition to the São Bruno and São Julião da Barra fortresses, you will also find the fantastic Ocean Pool. Oeiras has one of the most beautiful examples of Portuguese mansions from the 18th century, Palácio do Marquês de Pombal. The former residence of the Prime Minister of King José, Marquês de Pombal (who was also Count of Oeiras), is in the Baroque and Rococo style. The elegance of its gardens, full of statues, panels of tiles and waterfalls, is complemented by a fascinating interior, with paintings, frescoes, tiles and statues of rare quality. The monument of the palace cellar is also impressive.
In this municipality, do not miss the opportunity to visit Quinta Real de Caxias and the Parish Church. For more relaxed visits, visit the Fábrica da Pólvora and, together with the children, Aquário Vasco da Gama.
