Ponta Delgada is a port on the island of São Miguel in the Azores (a possession of Portugal). I have a population of approx. 20,000 inhabitants. Here it is possible to be the seat of executive governance in the Azores Autonomous Region.
Ponta Delgada is the largest and most populated in the archipelago.
Ponta Delgada Municipality is one of the largest administrative divisions in the archipelago, extending because of the island to the west coast. Ponta Delgada is bordered in the northeast of the municipality of Ribeira Grande, and in the southeast of the relatively new municipality in Lagoa. It covers or volcanic zone composed of two structures: the Picos Region and the Sete Cidades Massif.
Ponta Delgada can be made a simple fishing village, for some fishermen and once encouraged to sell safe bays, but after the power of time to play the role of the main port of the island of São Miguel.
