Cascais is a coastal city located in the municipality of Cascais, 30 km west of Lisbon, with about 35,000 residents. It is a cosmopolitan suburb of the capital of Portugal and one of the richest municipalities in this country. The former fishing village
gained fame as a resort for the Portuguese royal family, the late 19th and early 20th century. Nowadays, Cascais is a popular vacation center, both for Portuguese tourists and foreign tourists. It is located on the Estoril coast (named after the village with
the same name), called the Great Lisbon subregion.
